1st/2nd Line Support IT Technician

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and ambitious 1st Line Support IT Technician to join our IT Support team based in Farnham, Surrey where you’ll need the skills to provide support solutions via telephone and remote support. Very occasionally there maybe onsite visits.

You will be providing a varied range of technical support to an external customer base predominately based around Microsoft technologies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Logging, prioritisation and escalation of IT support issues and requests
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients to promote high level of customer service
  • Resolution of 1st and 2nd line support issues and requests via telephone, remote support or onsite visits
  • Assist other Technicians with support issues where required
  • Routine systems administration tasks
  • Administration of hardware inventories and software licenses

Technical Requirements:

  • Broad “IT Know-How” of Microsoft Windows operating systems including Windows XP/7/8 and Server/SBS 2008/2012/2016
  • Good understanding of DHCP & DNS
  • Administration of Active Directory and understanding of Group Policy
  • Knowledge and account administration of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013
  • Good knowledge of Office 365 administration
  • Understanding of TCP/IP Networking LAN
  • Keen interest in Information Technology, Computer hardware and software
  • Experience of building and troubleshooting PC/Server Hardware and Software issues
  • Experience of installing and configuring Routers, Firewall and Switches is preferable
  • Linux/Apple Mac OSX skills would be an advantage but not essential

Personable Requirements:

  • Strong team player
  • Logical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Must have a full, clean UK driving license, use of a car and willingness to travel
  • Microsoft certification is desirable and would be an advantage but not essential

The successful 1st / 2nd Line Support IT Technician will have at least 2 years previous IT Support experience and be a logical thinker. You will be able to demonstrate problem solving skills in a time-efficient matter. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, telephone manner, and a good command of the English language. You will be a polite, presentable individual, with a dynamic, go-getting attitude towards work. You will have the ability to work well individually or in a team. You will need to be a punctual individual, with the ability to meet deadlines, and administration skills should be of the highest standard.


We offer 20 days holiday + bank holidays which rises 1 additional day per year to a maximum of 25 days holiday.
