PurpleJelly - Christmas 2018

Welcome to PurpleJelly’s latest exciting newsletter. In this edition, we will be talking about some really important issues, such as some bad news regarding Windows 7, an easy chance to win a brand-new laptop before Christmas and how our new security products are being rolled out and already protecting some of our clients from email fraud. All of this and a whole lot more, including Christmas opening times!

 

CHRISTMAS OPENING HOURS

Before we knew it, Mariah Carey started singing (again) on every radio station, Christmas decs are up on show everywhere and Simon Wheatley is already wearing his festive t-shirts. This can mean one thing….. Its Christmas! You’ll probably want to know when you’ll be able to contact us over this festive period. So, to answer that very important question, our opening times over the festive period are as follows;

 

  • Christmas Eve:       CLOSED
  • Christmas Day:       CLOSED
  • Boxing Day:            CLOSED
  • Thursday 27th:       OPEN
  • Friday 28th:            OPEN
  • New Year’s Eve:     CLOSED
  • New Year’s Day:     CLOSED
  • Wed 2nd Jan:          Business as usual

 

SOME BAD NEWS…

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 are end of life as of 14th January 2020.  If your PC is running Windows 7, it will no longer receive security updates or any other patches for that matter, and it will become an immediate security risk. Therefore, it is important that you upgrade to a modern operating system such as Windows 10, which can provide the latest security updates to help keep you and your data safer. Please note that this is ONLY a year away – due to the sheer numbers of Windows 7 computers that we support, we will need to carefully plan the timings of any possible upgrades should you wish to use our services to update your products.  We will not be able to update all our client’s systems at the same time in Nov/Dec 2019!

 

It’s important you start planning early, please contact us as soon as possible to arrange your upgrade plan.

 

HELPING TO KEEP YOU SAFE AND SECURE

We have teamed up with one of the world’s best email security providers Barracuda and can now offer extended email and office 365 protection. This new ‘above and beyond’ system provides enhanced Email Security protecting against Spam, Email borne viruses and malware, data leaks, phishing emails and denial of service attacks. It also provides email encryption, full Office 365 backups and Archiving. On top of all of this, it makes use of the latest AI technology to stop Spear Phishing attacks in real time, helps with brand hacking and domain spoofing and perhaps most important of all prevents account takeovers.

PURPLEJELLY INTERNAL SYSTEM CHANGES

As a customer, you may have noticed a different way in which you receive invoices and pay for your support services. This is all down to our new accounting system “Xero” which some of you may already be familiar with. This cloud-based accounting software will be streamlining your experience working with us further as we will be starting to send your sales quotes through it. From the quote we will be able to much more easily amend orders and you will be able to sign off quotes online rather than having a long email trail.

 

IT’S COMPETITION TIME

Short notice for sure, but any of our valued customers who can provide a Google review, (good or bad, and identifiable), will be entered in to a prize draw for a brand-new HP 255 G6 professional laptop!  We’ll do everything we can for it to be with you before Christmas. The draw will be held on the 20th December.  Good luck!

NEW EMPLOYEES AND SAD GOODBYES

We would like to introduce to you our three newest members of staff who have all recently joined us: Jack Vince, Matt Anderson and Aidey Wyatt. I’m sure you have all spoken with them at some point. Each of them has rapidly become very valuable members of our ever-expanding team and bring excellent skillsets that we are keen to utilize to the fullest!

 

On a sadder note, we bid farewell to PurpleJelly’s longest serving member of staff Mark Simonds who has left for pastures new. We all wish him the very best of luck in his new role.

 

WE HAVE MOVED… Sort of!

As part of our continued growth, space at our offices in Unit 18 became a bit too tight. As luck would have it a new much larger unit became available just at the right time which enabled us to remain at the same address but with a different unit. Please ensure that you direct any mail (old hat we know!) to Unit 11 instead of Unit 18. The rest of the address remains the same.
